To hire a helper, you need to be 21 years old or above, have good financial standing (not an undischarged bankrupt), and possess the mental capacity to understand and fulfill your responsibilities as an employer.

The EOP is a 3-hour program designed to familiarize employers with their roles and responsibilities when hiring a migrant domestic worker (MDW). It is mandatory for first-time employers or those who have frequently changed MDWs.

First-time employers must complete the EOP at least 2 working days before submitting a Work Permit application. Those changing MDWs frequently should attend a classroom EOP or an interview with MOM, as specified in the letter received before processing the application.

Yes, under certain conditions. Employers suffering from chronic medical conditions, physical disabilities, those aged 60 and above facing physical discomfort, new or expectant mothers, or those with a sponsor or representative who has attended EOP can appoint someone to attend on their behalf.

The EOP is available in English or Mandarin (alternating weekly) for Classroom sessions. Malay or Tamil is offered based on demand. For Online EOP, you can choose from English, Malay, Mandarin, or Tamil.

MDWs must be female and aged from 23 to below 50 years old during the Work Permit application. Those aged 50 and above can only renew their Work Permits until they reach 60 years old.

MDWs must be from an approved source country or region, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and Thailand.

MDWs need a minimum of 8 years of formal education with a recognized certificate to be eligible for a Work Permit.
